Hi all,
N00b here, first time posting. Hopefully this is the correct place to ask.
I am a Facilities Manager of a public building. My staff are very health conscious and have concerns with any chemical or cleaning solution used in the building. An issue arose today when a contractor used AeroKroil to lubricate some dampers inside of my air handlers, filling some areas with an "unpleasant" smell.
My questions are as follows:
1. What is the safest lubricant that can be used in an air handler? H1 grade silicone spray is what I saw on another thread- but I looked up some SDS sheets and they were all listed as inhalation hazards (which leads me to my next question)
2. Is using an aerosol lubricant that is listed as an inhalation hazard in an air handler (pre filter) a potential hazard to employees in the building where the air is distributed? Personally I don't think it would be, my understanding is that that label would be pertinent to use in a confined space without sufficient air flow.
2a. If aerosols listed as respiratory hazards are safe to use in an air handler or in the HVAC system - does anyone have any documentation (or study?) I could point to? My place of employment would require documentation.
Any related articles or sources I could read to learn on this topic would be much appreciated.
Thank you in advance!
