I've just replaced an old, broken water softener with a new one. The system has the pressure tank after the water softener.
[well] ---> [water softener] ---> [pressure tank] ---> [house]
This is fine for normal use, and is best in terms of pressure drop. But it occurs to me, that during regeneration, the water flows backwards, until the pump kicks on, and then the water flow reverses direction.
This doesn't seem ideal. Although, it also seems to have worked for the last...
